Introduction: Math should be hands-on, interesting, and fun. I have a master's degree and eight years of teaching experience, and I've recently branched out in education by writing Math EOG test items providing instructional coaching for new teachers in struggling schools and curriculum writing for a major publisher. While tutoring, I strive to make math concepts clear, engaging, and entertaining for students. I use formative data to track students' progress and tailor tutoring sessions to their specific needs. I can work with your child on basic skills, problem solving, Common Core standards, homework help, test prep, and summer bridge sessions.

Jessica tutored my daughter for three years throughout middle school for math. Now she is working with my elementary school age son. She is fabulous! The children love working with her because she explains it methodically while also having fun. She is flexible and accommodating with scheduling, and I highly recommend her for tutoring.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was working as a bookkeeper after college, and I realized I wanted to make a difference in children's lives. I enrolled in a Masters program in Special Education, and I haven't looked back! It's been ten years since I made the decision to teach, and in that time I have taught 5th-8th graders in special education, general education, and Common Core Math Plus classes. Now I'm working as a Curriculum Writer, and I love to tutor because it keeps me connected to students and lets me continue to make a direct, personal impact on students.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Math tutoring - EOG prep, summer skills refreshers, homework help, standard-by-standard support, data-based interventions for struggling students, and challenge projects for students enrolled in Common Core Plus classes that benefit to. An extra push and one-on-one attention.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently had my last tutoring session with a student that I tutored throughout her middle school career. She has grown so much in her math skills and confidence, and she is a wonderful, caring girl who I am lucky to know. She is ready to move on to high school and I am happy that she and I will stay in touch as she takes on this new adventure, and I am now tutoring her younger brother!
