Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We take pride in helping the customer. We know a job such as a new roof can be VERY expensive and we take every measure to keep our cost down , while at the same time being sure we can supply a quality job. We know there are A LOT of other people doing this type of work. Therefore we try to set ourselves apart by offering FREE repair for a set amount of years. LEts say you get a new roof and in 4 years a few shingles blow off in a major storm. Many people will charge you to replace those shingles..(House call) we fix them FREE We also are very conscientious about how we dispose of material. To many contractors try and cut corners when it comes to doing this. We almost ALWAYS have a dumpster deliver to our site, so that our customers know EXACTLY where the waste material is going.. TO THE DUMP! (Check out our BLOG on our web page fro more info on this)

AHR Contracting's reply
First of all I do not know you , nor have I dealt with you. Christopher is a GOOD customer and after talking to him and asking for a referral he posted one. If the "several legit" contractors you speak of is/are Jessica's friend who did the inspection(and identified himself as such) then I can understand why there may be a poor inspection report. Also please note we (AHR) was not even given the opportunity to be present during this "inspection", and much of the report contains words such as "usually" and "preferred" and comments on flashing that "is not there". Perhaps, if the inspector looked BEHIND the siding he would SEE the flashing (Where it belongs!) Perhaps you should get all your facts straight B4 commenting on someone-else's work...

Hello, my name is Jessica and the 2 one-star reviews were made in reference to my home which has $30,000 dollars worth of damage to the inside of my home due to water damage cause by the inability of this company to properly know how to close a roof which they had been working on for 7 days...Actually 5 days, because after taking 3 days to remove all the shingles, they did not return for 2 days because as Vic states the guys did not show up when they were supposed to. After taking 3 more days to "complete" the roof it failed in many ways on inspection and in order to sell my house it will need to be completely redone otherwise a home inspector will not pass the inspection. In addition, the roof STILL leaks. His solution to the problem was to "fix" the current problem. However, as he is not even aware of the current NC building codes and thinks that racking the shingles is an acceptable method of roofing despite it voiding the warranty of the shingles and causing home inspectors to inform future buyers that the roof has problems. This is on old technique that has been found to cause leaks especially in architectural shingles. Feel free to Google "racking" Please when considering hiring a contractor please make sure they are Licensed and they have VALID insurance. Verify all information before signing any contract!!!! You may even consider hiring a home inspector for a small amount of money to be your project manager to protect your investment. I truly would not wish my experience on anyone.

My neighbors hired AHR to replace their roof. They ended up with water damage to several interior walls and ceilings along with trash all over their yard. The roof leaks, is not up to code and needs to be replaced. Do not recommend.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We originally worked out of Iowa, the breakdown of our work was mainly roofs at near 50% (Shingle and torch-down rubber) and followed by 20% exterior painting and 20% flooring. The remaining 10% consisted of an occasional deck or paneling job. Since starting up in NC this fall, we have competed 4 flooring jobs , 8 roofing jobs , and 5 exterior painting jobs.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We did large residential VCT tile job a few months ago. The customer was having her wedding reception at her home and the job needed to be finished in less then a week. This included removing the old tile and carpet and parts of the sub floor. We had the job finished 2 days early which allowed the customer to get the decorators in early. Just an all around good feeling!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do not make a decision based on price alone. Some companies may be able to offer an extra low price because they use sub-par materials. Always ask for an estimate that shows both material price and labor price. Material prices should not differentiate by much. Any savings should be noticed in the labor price to perform the job. Be leery of estimates that show only one price.
