Drew was one of the few people who responded to my request for an estimate over a holiday weekend. His verbal estimate was more than reasonable so I requested he make a personal visit to scope the job. I was shocked to discover that he was 150 miles away, yet was still willing to make the drive for only an estimate. The job requred he make a cabinet and install it. We agreed on a price and one week later, he came back to install. I was stunned and pleased with the quality of his work. He is obviously a perfectionist, which is what one wants in a cabinet maker who is to build a custom cabinet. The results were beyond my expectations, ansd the price more than reasonable, especially since he made two round trips of such a long distance. He definitely did not add the trip cost to his price. I'd hire him again in a minute!

We had Drew build 2 bookcases - one for the top of our stairs and one to match an existing bookcase with distinct molding and glass doors. Both pieces are beautiful and look as if they are original to the house. Our house age is 1932. He got all the details exactly and matched the stain to the existing stain. We love the bookshelves! He is very professional and we are so delighted with the work that we have re-hired him again. This time to build a deck off of our kitchen.

Drew quickly contacted me after seeing my "call for help" on Thumbtack.com. A large, wall-mounted cabinet had come lose in our laundry room and was hanging by just one screw. Drew made a special effort to come to our house the day after our listing posted on Thumbtack.com. He did an excellent job of remounting our cabinet and even took the time to make sure it was bolstered in the wall more securely. He was neat, professional, and courteous. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I had work done to fix the hinges on a pantry door. Drew did an excellent job. He was efficient and explained what he was doing. He answered my questions about other structural problems with the townhouse and took the time to explain his answers. I would definitely ask him to return when I have problems with the house. He was great.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Drew's Cabinets & Cases specializes in kitchens, bathrooms, home work stations, media centers, pantries, closets and garage storage solutions. All projects can be done in face frame with full over lay doors and drawers or inset doors and drawers. Or for greater access to the interior space of your cabinets frameless constuction. In addition I also offer retrofits for doors, drawers and hardware upgrades. Another area of service is cabinet repair and modifications. There are times that the original hardware may fail or a drawer may come apart and need repair. Perhaps a glass panel is desired where there is a wood panel and we can do that as well along with decoreative glass sourcing. Cabinet modifications can be anything from making a cabinet more usable to reconfiguring the existing set up.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The most common advice that I can offer is when looking at cabinetry is, quality of materials and finish!!! The first is not all plywood is the same. Some of my competition while claiming all plywood construction are using Chinese imported plywood to offer low price point. So why is this so bad you ask? Imported plywood is not held to the same air quality standards as the domesticly produced plywoods(formaldehyde emissions that affect indoor air quality), imports also are not made the same. They tend to warp, twist and delaminate within hours of cutting for fabrication. I have seen all the above happen first hand in other shops and made up my mind right there and then swore never would I use imported sheetgoods! Using materials properly in the construction of your cabinets wil mean the difference between remodeling again in 10 to 12 years due to poor constuction and materials or 25 to 30 years because of design style. Next is the hardware. So much of it comes from overseas and there are different levels of the Good the Bad and the Very ugly. If the fit, form and function is anything other than outstanding, then there will be issues in the future and the only fix will be complete replacement. Finally is finish. Are the differences? you bet and most of it comes to preparation and training in the use of those materials. I pride my company on continuing education. In the past year over 40 hours has been invested in just finish training and equipment.
