I am an experienced dance instructor covering Latin, Ballroom, and Club dance styles! My teaching methods are geared to how you learn best - visual, kinesthetic, auditory, etc. I began dancing at the age of nine in the Pacific Northwest region and became an International Ballroom 10-Dance DanceSport competitor. At the age of 20 I left the competitive world of dance and began working as a part-time dance instructor in various private and franchise studios in Seattle, Orange County - California, and Brooklyn - NYC, while pursuing a professional career in healthcare and public health.
My experience covers everything from kindergarten level children group classes, to hundreds of wedding couples, to senior adults that are using dance therapy for neurodegenerative disease management. Although I was trained by a syllabus and strong guidelines, my theory on dance is very dynamic and focuses on kinesthetic understanding of movement and empowering one to feel confident.

Maria did a great job choreographing and teaching us a wedding dance! I loved her philosophy toward designing the dance - giving us some key moves to use at the beginning and the end. It was low pressure, we learned SO MUCH over 2 hours, and we had a great time while doing it. Maria also had us record some videos so we can refer back to them while practicing before the big day. Absolutely a pleasure to work with Maria, who was so professional and talented! As a two-woman couple, we also appreciated her ability to choreograph something for us that didn't fall into traditional male/lead female/follow roles. Honestly, we're talking about going back as just a date night sometime because we had such a great time!

Maria was amazing!! She did our tutorial in our home. We had less than a month to prepare a wedding dance. She was very thoughtful about the song and came prepared steps. We enjoyed working with her!!! We would do a lesson as a date night!!! Highly recommend!!
