I have been a Math Instructor at South Piedmont Community College and was a Senior Chemical Engineer at Merck &Co for 8 years. I have a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA and have passed the NC Teacher Praxis Licensure Exam in Math. I am an experienced teacher in Calculus, Algebra II Trig, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics and SAT/ACT Prep
For SAT/ACT Test Prep, I'm especially good with students who have trouble with the Math Calculator and No Calculator sections. I also prepare students for the Reading, Writing and Science Sections (ACT) with specific test taking strategies and time management techniques. I teach a logical approach to the Reading and Writing Sections which especially helps the students who are great in Math but struggle in English. Having been a Community College Instructor, I'm adept at finding the areas where a student's Math Knowledge might need some extra work. You will be able to find the correct answer to any type of question with full confidence and accuracy. If you choose to do the SAT essay, I will teach you the specific format of the essay that will achieve a high score . You will be able to answer ACT Science questions with total confidence, even if they involve concepts you've never heard of. The SAT/ACT standardized test strategies are different from anything you learn in school and I will teach them to you.

Karen provided excellent tutoring for our son for the SAT. In 2 sessions she was able to help him improve his verbal score by 90 points, and repeat his already high math score (but on the revised SAT). We intend to use her also soon for Calculus tutoring.

My son had a great experience working with Karen. Her teaching techniques proved to be successful. He was able to score a perfect 800 on the math section of the SAT and a near perfect 780 on the reading/writing section. We are VERY pleased!! Highly recommend.

We are so thankful to have found Karen. She has worked with our son a couple of times now on his Honors Pre-Calculus and we plan to continue working with her.
