- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for companies that provide support for the products they sell. If the company sells services, make sure that the company is licensed, insured, certified and qualified to perform the work advertised. Anyone can sell a computer but can they help you fix it when it breaks or answer critical questions involving interoperability, scalability and stability? Look for credentials from CompTIA. Does your service provider hold certificates in the areas of service being performed? How many years experience does the company have as well as the staff have in the areas of work or products being provided? Is the staff friendly, knowledgeable, patient and responsive to your needs? Avoid being bullied and answers that are unclear. The sales team, project managers, engineers and administrators should be well trained in product knowledge, installation practices, best procedures and industry standards. How many products and services does the company provide? Do they offer ongoing support and training? Look for companies that offer products and services that relate to not only each other but to your needs as a customer. In the low-voltage industry, laws vary by state to state. Make sure that the company you are working with is licensed and insured to do business as well as provide the technologies they advertise. MAP price vs. MSRP. What is it? MAP is manufacturers actual price and MSRP is manufacturers suggested retail price. Resellers like ourselves often offer MAP prices which are lower than the MSRP of a product. Make sure that the company you are buying from isn't out of contract with the manufacturer by offering technologies below MAP prices and ensure that your reseller is indeed an authorized company to deal with that specific technology. Lastly, make sure the company you are working with is willing to answer your questions directly and offer results driven options that increase purpose and functionality while doing so feasibly and ethically.
