What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly researching new methods of cooking, new recipes and innovative ideas from other chefs.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved to cook and when I moved to Hatteras, NC with my husband I didn't know anyone and had never lived at the beach. My husband was a charter fisherman and would sometimes bring home fish for us to eat. I started experimenting, buying fish in local markets and trying local produce and found it very rewarding.
What types of customers have you worked with?
For weddings I mostly prepare full meals. I also do a lot of hors d'oeuvres parties for all types of occasions but mostly for business related gatherings. Twice a month I offer four course gourmet meals at Moonlight Ridge Vineyard; those are open to the public.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am getting ready to serve Dr. Jane Goodall (Gorillas In The Mist) for the second year in a row. She comes to Nebraska to view the crane and I am so honored to be part of her trip.
