Bathroom Remodel

These are the pros. I was new to contracting so I really had to be walked through the process. They were very patient while I gained an informed opinion and helped me to make design choices that were in my best interest and not to line their pockets. The responsiveness was fantastic. I have received fast responses to all me questions and been kept apprised of the daily schedule. Sean seamlessly schedules his crew to affect little downtime for his pros and timely work completion for the customer. I was impressed by the expertise, knowledge and friendliness of every pro he sent to my house. He handled problems and changes with experience and aplomb. I had one bathroom remodeled and another newly constructed. Sean supplied a detailed appraisal and brought the project in on budget except for the curves I threw him. The project time was extended mainly due to my special requests and unforeseen problems. The results are two show stopper bathrooms. Quality, workmanship and design are outstanding. Would I hirer him again? I am already looking at new projects and upgrades just so I can have him come back.

Home Remodeling

Sean and his team were very effective in accomlishing a bathroom, bedroom and kitchen remodel. They addressed a number of challenges on both the interior and exterior of the home and coordinated all the permitting. Sean was terrific on communication and the project completed per the cost estimate. It can be hard to find a reliable contractor but Handy and Some LLC is one of them.

I can’t speak highly enough about the work done by Handy and Some. Sean’s crew are all incredibly skilled and professional. When there were mistakes Sean too full responsibility and they were fixed in a timely manner. When I had an issue with the granite installler Sean continual contacted them until there was a resolution. Sean stuck to budget, had great ideas, and kept in constant contact. We only have one bathroom and Sean made sure it was in constant working order so we didn’t have to leave the house. I can be a challenging customer and have high expectations...Handy & Some accepted my challenges and lived up to my expectations. I will hire them again for any of my home improvement needs. Thanks Doug, bath remodels can be difficult. When it is the only bath in the house, minimizing downtime while keeping a timely schedule is much more challenging. I think we were able to accomplish this for you. I enjoyed working with you and thank you for the business.

We have used Handy and Some for several projects around the house including a partial remodel of a bathroom. Sean has always been wonderful about communicating: whether it's returning phone call or emails, setting project expectations ( how long/ reasonable cost expectations). I've had several contractors before show up for a day then disappear for a week ... Without much explanation (I understand things happen or an emergency job pops up. Just communicate). We never had that problem with Handy and Some! His workmanship is great. We will definitely be using him again for future projects.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    For smaller jobs which would be most that take between 1-5 days to complete, we charge a flat rate of $70 per hour per man. This would cover most of the services we provide. If a sub is required, we charge more depending on that particular trade. Those rates are posted on our web site. There are some other charges which we are upfront with such as administrative time for planning and obtaining permits when needed. Drawing time for some projects which require detailed plans. Debris removal if a job has a significant about which needs to be hauled away. And of course materials, which we do add a percentage to cost but in most cases, we buy less than the average homeowner so the end cost usually retail pricing.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    Typically, I ask the customer some key questions prior to meeting in order to be fully prepared during a project site visit. Once meeting the customer in person viewing and discussing the project, I will send a written estimate which will include all materials and labor. It will also include allowances for fixtures, if relevant, so a customer knows the total cost of the project. For smaller projects we charge a flat competitive hourly rate, plus material costs. We do not require a contract and we do not require a deposit unless there are special order materials involved or the initial materials need to start are more than $500. At the end of each day, we provide an invoice for the actual hours worked and the materials provided and installed. You only pay for what service you have received. On larger projects, we help the customer come up with a budget which fits their needs and wallet. From there we invoice out weekly for labor and materials for that past week. The customer is always in a position where if they are not satisfied, they can end the project with minimal risk.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have been in the construction field for over 25 years. I have had my MA supervisors license for 20 years. I am required to complete 12 hours of continuing education each year to refresh myself on the international building codes. I also am proficient in AutoCAD, Chief Architect and other architectural software which aids in the planning, communication, visualization, and completion of the project. All of my crew are skilled experienced professionals and my subs are licensed, insured and most of all dependable.
