About
People. I love people of all stripes. It's so gratifying when I'm showing someone how to get from point A to point B and then the light goes on. It makes my day to see them smile their understanding. Tutoring also keeps my skills honed and supple. And besides getting to help others, my own life is enriched by the exchange. Everyone is different and everyone has some unique characteristic which makes it interesting to work with them.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I help with school work, especially papers, all grades up to and including Adult Ed. and enrichment. English language is a specialty and Creative Writing is a passion. I can demystify research methods in scientific or sociological endeavors, as well. One cannot underestimate the well-written letter, research paper or fiction story; it packs a punch and gets your message across without distracting typos or syntax issues. Besides, it shows everyone how intelligent you really are!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask if the tutor can provide references, but don't rely on those alone. Ask questions such as where they went to school, how long they've been tutoring, etc. Then be sure to fact-check the information. Another important piece is feeling comfortable with the person. If an in-person interview is not possible (i.e. the tutor services are only provided online), then see if they would Skype with you. This way you can see if they would be easy to work with, but firm in their tutoring.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I wish they knew that it's never too late to ask for help and that, in fact, it is a mark of strength! As far as the profession of Tutoring goes, it would be good to know that tutors come from all walks of life and experience, so it's important to find the person who has the skill set you're looking for. For instance, someone with a degree in English may not necessarily be the tutor you need if you're writing a paper in APA style and they only know MLA. Or conversely, you may need help with a PowerPoint presentation and the tutor just happens to be an expert in using Microsoft Office. Make sure you ask questions about the type of work they've done and determine if it is relevant to your needs. Most important: I love what I do. The person you work with will help you greatly if they really like what they are doing.
