Introduction: We have been organizing and decorating for years. We use a common sense approach. Something not too many people have, or have not taken the time to develop. My favorite show used to be house hunters but I have graduated to American Pickers and Storage Wars and Antiques Road Show. I subscribe to HGTV. I most like the response I get from my accounts who never "looked at things that way" or just don't know where to start. I Love rearranging furniture and organizing for a given space. What works in one house does not necessarily work when you move somewhere else. Decorate for the space! Don't shoe horn old furniture into a brand new small cottage! NOTE 2019: I believe staging and organizing is all related but I do not quote Thumbtack staging leads. They are too specific and too restricting for the services that Clutter Controls Offers. NOTE 2020 I was tasked with a whole estate clean out from organizing to conducting weekly yards sales, to providing handy person services, to running an online auction, to packing to moving the leftovers to storage, to coordinating with the family, the subs, the realtors, the buyers and more! I continue to sell collectible items and continue to share the profits with the family thereby keeping a whole lot of stuff out of landfills! I have a little shop of bargains in 3 different states. I charge 50% for selling people treasures . It helps defray the costs for organizing. It also motivates people to let it go!

I needed help unpacking and finding places for everything in my slightly smaller new home. Diana Sheedy and her crew were amazing! She helped with storage options, design ideas, small home repairs and helped get rid of empty boxes in the house and garage. She even got my longarm quilting machine assembled! After meeting with Suzy and Diana when they came to my home to get an overview of the work I needed done, I knew instantly they were a perfect fit for me. From their professionalism, to their wonderful personalities, and their ability to put me at ease, I’m so thrilled I chose them. Suzy worked tireless and efficiently with me to declutter, organize, and get rid of all the things I no longer wanted or needed in my home. I was completely overwhelmed before she came. Without her, I would still be behind a mountain of years of amounted clutter in my 950 sq foot condo. She packed, organized, put together a standing clothes rack, discarded all the trash, donated bags of clothing, shoes, kitchen items, books, etc for me. She organized my kitchen, bedroom, spare room, bathroom, dining room, closets, and hallways. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for the best people to help you! I loved that they also have a handyman to help if you need him, saving me from having to find several people from different companies. Thank you Suzy and Diana! Truly. You helped to change my life in such a positive way!

Diana is a hard worker and had some great functional storage ideas. She had a knack for finding a spot for all of my stuff. It was a great start to my organizing project! The only thing that would have improved my experience is if she asked me "Why do you even need that? Get rid of it!" and forced me to purge more of my clutter. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will price by the hour the day or by the job if I am not sure how long something will take. My subs work for my company unless some other arrangement has been made and quoted. I also accept credit cards, cash, venmo and paypal. I charge a one hour $50.00 consultation fee regardless of how much time is spent on research, travel, and time with client. As others know the research done is throughout the process off client site.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I listen to what they need, make suggestions and decide on a time when I can come to evaluate their space. I like to look at a whole house because the rest of the house may effect the space that needs the work. I take pictures, a lot! I will then quote the job and estimate how long it will take. They are many ways to accomplish the same goals. Not right or wrong just different. Always keep an open mind.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently enrolled in NAPO: National Association of Professional Organizers.I have also taken a tremendous amount of Video Courses for MaxSold.com. This is helping me with my Senior Downsizing opportunities. I do a tremendous amount of research on web sites for pricing information and details. And 6 years of you name it, I've seen it is a tremendous education.
