Motivated K9 Dog Training

Introduction: While a majority of trainers in the Concord area received their training education online, Motivated K9 owner and head trainer, Joe Castagno IV, graduated from a live-in school for dog training. He graduated from National K9 School for Dog Trainers in 2010, which is one of the best training schools in the country. There he was able to learn things that other trainers simply can not learn online. He was able to learn from and work along side of some of the best of the best in the dog world. At Motivated K9 we are committed to using a balanced approach to offer a wider variety of dog training services. Other trainers in the area choose to ONLY use the "purely positive" style of training, however that means that they prefer to put an aggressive dog down rather than to broaden their approach. We understand that for more aggressive dogs a "correction" may save the dog's life. Despite popular belief, a correction does NOT mean an angry yank on the leash, choking the dog, with a loud yell of NO! or using force to make a dog do something they are uncomfortable with. A correction can merely the removal a reward, whether it is a treat, a toy or praise. A correction can also be a redirection of the dog's attention, like "hey, over here, I need you to pay attention to me instead of that". Motivated K9 will use ANY and ALL styles and approaches to get through to even the most aggressive dog. Also, Motivated K9 is the only training facility that offers personal protection training for your dog. Personal protection training teaches your dog to protect you, your family and your home. People worry that this may make your dog aggressive in all situations, like when at home with your children. However in fact one of the biggest parts of the training is learning when it is expected (when the owner gives a very specific command) and when it is NOT okay. This is also where K9 training comes in to play with sports like PSA and Schutzhund, and we offer training to help get your working dog on the path to getting titled in these sports!
