Working with a group of high school students in a language arts class, we sought an opportunity to experience the power of community and public art. Susan Brown and I brainstormed, developed and carried out a fantastic public art project that significantly and lastingly transformed a vacant lot in a small downtown area. The project was affirming, and powerful. Susy's enthusiasm, eye for detail and superior communication skills were the key to successfully completing the project. Any obstacle encountered, she met with enthusiasm and joy, talking through how to problem solve with students, empowering them to come up with meaningful solutions.
Years later, the project still adorns the space, is beautiful, and the experience has taken root in the hearts and minds of students who were involved, who have commented to me about the tremendous learning that took place over those two days.
Susan carried a vision for the project from beginning to end, but she allowed everyone involved in the development and creation of the project to feel that it was their vision as well. She is a powerful teacher, a capable project manager, and a visionary artist.

I've been collecting Susan's art since the early 1990's and working with her has been a joy! I have 7 pieces to date, paintings, prints and a pastel. I enjoy them every day in my home and love sharing them with family and friends.
