FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge a monthly fee for once-a-week lessons. There may be 3, 4, or 5 lessons in a month. Online lessons last 35 minutes, in person 30 minutes; group lessons are longer, depending on the number of students in the group. Private online lessons are $100/month, group lessons are $80/month. In person lessons are $90/month for private lessons, and $75/month for group lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free introductory session for all prospective students. At this session, I'll explain the unique advantages of the Simply Music Piano method and how it differs from traditional, reading based methods. I'll also tell about how this method began, demonstrate some of the songs students will be learning, and give an example of how the method works. If the student decides to go ahead and try lessons, we will schedule a weekly 30 or 35 minute lesson time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in music education, and an MA in music, and I am a registered Simply Music piano teacher. I have taught piano for the past 6 years; I have played piano most of my life, and as a public school music teacher, I played piano for many concerts, plays and assemblies over the course of my career. I also play piano as a church musician. I taught elementary general music and chorus in the Massachusetts public schools for 18 years.
