We hired From the Ground Up to repair a hole in our composite deck that remained after removing an old hot tub. Most contractors want to build new and aren't interested in repairs.
Jakob and his crew finished this exactly as we asked. We only wanted to fill the hole with a basic design to compliment (not match) our existing deck/home. All crew members were professional and meticulous and delivered a quality job at a fair price (we priced 4 contractors - they weren't the lowest, but I felt most comfortable with the owner).
They were clear in their quote and showed up when expected. I could not have asked for more and I plan to use them again on a fence project.
Note: WE picked the colors. We plan to power wash the old decking, install an aluminum Gazebo over the area and add seating and a gas fire table - so the colors will make more sense when that is complete.

These young gentlemen are just that, gentlemen. Each day they greeted me, shook my hand, asked how I was doing, looked me in the eye, smiled, asked how I felt the project was going, listened to my input, and profesionally crafted the project.
I have 30+ years in heavy, commercial construction. I enjoyed having these gentlemen executing a project for me.
We are very happy with the outcome and have recommended FTGU and Jacob to neighbors. Will have them back to examine future and larger projects.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We would start off meeting a new customer at the location of the job. Communication is the most important when we start working with a new customer. I will ask pin point questions regarding material options, job duration, scheduling, budget, and a step by step plan of attack going into the job. After the conversation, We will do a walk through of the property to visually see what the customer is aiming to get done. After the walkthrough and a few pictures and measurements, I will submit the final write up in order to have all parties acknowledge and sign off on everything listed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I spent a a few years in the carpenters union before starting the business with my younger brother. My foreman (younger brother) has spent his entire life in the field learning and mastering all his skills of the trade.
