I have worked as a professional pianist and singer since 2008. I provide wedding ceremonial and cocktail reception music, provide musical ambiance for parties and at fine dining restaurants, inns and taverns across the Monadnock Region and Southern Vermont, and entertain at dozens of nursing homes. I also provide worship music for churches and celebrations of life and funerals as well as holiday parties and themed parties. Over the years, I've amassed an extensive repertoire that includes favorites from the 1920s through today, and encompasses various genres including: Classical, pop, soft rock, jazz, classic country, folk, and spiritual. Being of a certain age, I cover a lot of tunes from the 70s by The Beatles, Billy Joel, Elton John, Carole King, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, etc., but also play hits by more contemporary folks like Ed Sheeran and Adele. I can do all instrumentals, or mix in some vocals for a nice variety. And I'm happy to learn your special requests so my song list is always growing. I take great pains to create set lists that will provide the perfect ambiance for your particular event. I can provide my own keyboard and sound system, and I try to be very easy to work with. I'm happy to provide your choice of live music, played at a volume that still allows for conversation. If you are planning a wedding, cocktail reception, corporate event, private party, holiday party, or other event that would be improved with live music, I'd be happy to discuss my availability, rates and musical options. My fees are based on location, length of performance, and other special requests. My minimum rate of $300 applies only to functions up to 90 minutes long and within an hour's drive of Troy, NH, IE: Brattleboro, VT, the Monadnock Region and over to Milford, NH and down to Gardner and Fitchburg, MA. Wedding ceremonies or cocktail receptions start at $350 for up to 1 hour of music including prelude, processional, recessional, and postlude music. My minimum price for providing both wedding ceremonial and cocktail reception music is $650. Travel fees will apply for jobs more than an hour’s drive from Troy, NH.

As a DJ, I have been fortunate to work with Diane as an individual and as part of the duo, Rick and the Redhead. They have provided music for my 40th birthday & we have worked together to honor the homeless who die during a winter solstice event at Keene Square. Most recently, Diane was the featured entertainment at my father's 70th birthday at The Arlington Inn. She worked with my mother to create a wonderful soundtrack for the event. I was outdoors, but when I went inside for a moment, Diane played Josh Groban's “You Raise Me Up” for a special dance with my Mom. She then did “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by request for a cousin. Diane Ammons plays piano and sings from a very broad and eclectic repertoire, that includes many vocal and instrumental-only arrangements of everything from light classical pieces to several generations of popular tunes. She works a lot in my area in NH, and other places too. Yes, I'm a fan! I have enjoyed her solo performances on many occasions -- at a wedding, a cafe restaurant, a theater lounge, a friend's house party, an inn, for church services, and at taverns. Based on my own musical experience, I've observed that her piano playing has the precision and depth of a classically trained player, which I know she was since her childhood, which clearly has been broadened by her love of popular music. Her singing is sweet, on pitch, and lovely. Her piano instrumental arrangements make for a great atmosphere for musical background settings -- restaurants, inns, and so forth. She can entertain as well. I know she has played in several ensembles and bands! She can even kick some rock n' roll! She's a nice lady too. Well worth hiring.

Dianne is an incredibly reliable talent to hire and organize. In midst of the busiest time of the year, Diane had 22 jobs for December and still managed to respond to each of my concerns, requests and texts promptly, kindly and with grace. She collaborated with me with ease and enthusiasm! I’ve been very impressed with her speed of responsiveness given her schedule and have been very grateful because it made organizing our event even easier! When it came to performing, she’s a great improviser and able to go with the flow. Our time line was out. As the organizer of my event, I also MC’d our party and Dianne stepped up and co’MC’d with me, bantering back and forth, creating great crowd energy and atmosphere. I’d hire Dianne again, she’s talented, knows her work well, reliable and collaborates well. She’s also great with time!! Thank you for helping make our event be so special. Diane's piano playing is gorgeous. She's got such a positive energy, both for the job and for interacting with the crowd (if that is called for). What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate would depend on several factors such as: how much equipment I need to provide, how far I have to travel, and how many hours of music are requested. My hourly rate drops after the first two hours. My base fee of $300 only applies to functions located within one hour’s drive from Keene, NH and that are not weddings. Travel fees will apply for locations an hour or more away from Keene, NH making my base fee $500.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I encourage clients to tell me exactly what they have in mind for their event. I'll make suggestions if they aren't sure what tunes would work best, and will walk them through what hiring a pianist entails. For example, if you're planning an outdoor party, I would require a flat area at least 5' square with access to electricity, not near any water, and sheltered from direct sun and inclement weather.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in music from S.U.N.Y. New Paltz and have continued my musical studies at the Vermont Jazz Center in Brattleboro, VT.
