Introduction: We are a professional tree, shrub, lawn and landscape company. Insect and disease control as well as tick and mosquito control. We specialize in plant diagnostics, proper tree, shrub and lawn maintenance, planting and transplanting, patios, walkways and retaining walls. I also do design work if you’re unsure of what you’d like. Being an Arborist is my passion. Update - Nick resolved the concerns I had. There were clearly some communication issues we had but I respect that he took the time to come and make sure we have a friendly resolution. ------------------- This was a disaster. I hired Nick from Tarzan Tree to fix my yard. Our lawn was mostly weeds, we wanted to grow grass and have a nice green lawn before summers but all I got was disappointment. I hope I can shed some light and save the terrible experience for others. I found that there's 2 sides of Nick - One before he gets paid which is very friendly and sweet. Before I hired him, I was told "getting you the perfect lawn is my biggest priority". Do not fall for that. Then there's another side after he gets paid. All the promises that were made before payment are forgotten. I have not seen someone who is so self-defensive that he forgets to see what the customer wants or is looking for. All I want from him was to guide us through the whole process (which he agreed to) but instead, he just kept defending himself throughout where as I was't putting the blame on him at any point of time. When he came to get his payment, he promised to return and see how the lawn was progressing. Forget that. He never even asked how it was going. I sent multiple texts and he kept promising that he will be here in a "few days". Obviously. that never happened. The end result was that we got was a patchy lawn. I wanted to talk to him about how we can fix it, make it look better. But, all I got was "I did a good job. You didn't water the lawn properly." (I have emails of what he wanted me to do and I did better than that. But that's not the point). I just wanted him to ask him how we can fix it but could not get a response because of the self-defense mode he got into. I will never hire him and I would recommend everyone not to hire Nick. Never been as disappointed with a contractor as I was with Nick.

We used Tarzan for aeration services. Reasonable pricing and Nicholas was excellent. Very professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain what he was doing and also gave some great tips for planting my new grass seeds. He also exhibited his knowledge of trees. I'll be sure to keep his name in my phonebook for my lawn care needs. Thanks Nicholas!

Prior to hiring Nick, I had called a few other licensed plumbers to fix a hot water issue in my kitchen sink. The other pros told me I had to make holes in my kitchen wall until I found the main problem. Nick didn't rush to any conclusions. He took the time to listen, investigate the problem and find a solution. He figured out that my problem was an inverted water valve and informed me that it was not necessary to make any hole in the wall. Nick not only saved the day but was respectful and patient. I highly recommend him for all your handyman projects.

For lawn care I typically charge by size (sq ft). For tree work and other labor work, I estimate how long it will take me to get the job done.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know who the customer is and get a feel for what they're looking to accomplish with their particular budget.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an ISA Certified Arborist, a NJ Certified Tree Expert and a NJ Certified Pesticide Applicator.
