The building I live in scheduled exterior brick face work to be done. Normally whenever the owners plan any type of work to be done inside or outside the building, the residents are provided ample notice which includes when the work is expected to begin, what type of work will be done, any cautionary things we need to be aware of, hours of operation etc. etc. etc. Yeah well this time there was a break in the line of communication and there weren't any notices provided to us or posted anywhere in the building prior to the beginning of the job. I live on the top floor and as usual when I left for work that Tuesday morning, seeing as how it was going to be 86 degrees with a breeze, I opened my windows to allow for the fresh air to flow through the apartment. I live close to where I work and often come home for lunch which I did that day. I opened the door to my apartment and could not believe what I saw. There was a haze of particles floating in the air and all of the debris from what was sandblasted off of the bricks had blown into my apartment windows and was carried throughout all 6 rooms of the apartment. Everything was covered in this dust. The floors, the furniture, the plants, the dishes, the walls, the appliances EVERYTHING, and there was an inch thick of dust laying on the inside window ledge. I immediately started coughing and my eyes were irritated so i backed out of my apartment and contacted the property manager. The first 2 professional cleaning companies that my property manager received estimates from to clean my apartment failed miserably with poor timing and the lack of follow up and customer service. This all took place a few days prior to a holiday weekend and it appeared to me that they were stalling so that the job could be moved to the following week. Thankfully the property manager had the presence of mind to contact SC Cleaning, someone they have been doing business with for many years. This company sent a crew to my apartment the same day they were contacted, did the assessment, provided the estimate and had a crew onsite ready to work the next day. They walked me through the process of how they would tackle the job and set the expectations with me. I moved out while the work was being done. It took them 2 days to complete the job and when I returned home I was absolutely amazed at the results. They encouraged me to inspect all areas of my apartment and continue to touch surfaces. They told me to contact them if I found any traces of that dust and they would come back to resolve the issue. This was an impressive cleaning job. This is a family owned business and they really know what they are doing. They provide great customer service and are easy to work with. The job they did for me was residential and they don't typically contract for individual residential jobs, but this was a favor to the property manager. They prefer to offer their services as a commercial business cleaner. After the great job they did in restoring my apartment, I would highly recommend them. I feel lucky to have been a customer of theirs.
