Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I don't look at new customers as new jobs to be done. I look at new customers as new relationships. Yes, a new job, but what about 5 years from now, when you move into a new house. I want the customer for all the jobs in his future. That's why I don't look at just the job, but the future relationship. I want to sustain an ongoing relationship with the customer. I help relieve my customers stress. I'm the hero. I bring the game home. I give a customer light jazz and low lighting at the touch of a button. I provide super bowl audio throughout the house for that once a year party you love hosting. I am the hero. It's that simple.

I needed to update my Av system, and a friend told me about James Biringer. He was prompt, professional and explained everything in great detail. My TV looks great and the sound is perfect. I recommend him to anyone who wants a great system installed.

ON time.Did what he said he would before performing the task.. He came back promptly when we had a problem or needed help. He was very patient and was happy to help. He always researched the materials first so we got the best price.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Price is simple. Rate is $50 per hour. $75 per hour with a helper. A helper may be needed to fish wire inside walls. I also offer the customer, if he's so inclined to act as a helper. Some customers don't want anything to do with that. Some are thankful to save a few dollars. Depends on the customer. My website has a cost estimator for most of the more common jobs.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

To be honest, I got into this on a whim. I was looking into a new career and over a few beers with my buddy he suggested home theater. Sometimes in life we miss the most obvious things. They're staring us in the face, and we just don't see it. That's the case with this business. I had a backround in amplified sound, was proficient in software, experienced in installing low voltage wire in houses and businesses, and had a customer friendly attitude. The only thing I needed boning up on was the video side. And that came quickly given my technical nature. I wish there were a more compelling story, but that's the truth. And I'm inclined to stick with the truth. I'm just not that crafty at telling tall tales and trying to remember lies. The truth works quite well for me.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Setup a meeting and discuss the work you would like done. That's the way I like to start out with a new customer. Then, the customer gets a feel for what kind of contractor he's dealing with. A face to face meeting really can tell you a lot about a person.
