Absolutely the best! Martha knows her stuff. Positive training only for both the dog and their "people". She goes above and beyond always. Extremely thorough and very knowledgeable you can't go wrong with Martha!

Martha has been working with our Golden Doodle and my son. Bear has been working to become a service dog for my son who has been in a wheelchair for over 35 years. Martha has done a wonderful job creating a bond and team spirit between Tom and his dog. Martha has a true dedication to her work.

I would highly recommend Martha's training to anyone! She has helped owners train almost every breed/mix one could imagine. Her methods are positive, and most of them are "fun" as well. My Dobermans are trained in AKC obedience venues........when I run into a "roadblock" like getting my dobe to take a metal scent article..."Ugh Mom, it feels funny in my mouth!" Martha comes up with unique tieing a bit of fabric around the dowel...Yes, it works! Martha has helped me train obedience, rally, tracking and some fun "search" work that Dillon loves!!!!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I’m a CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed) through CCPDT.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Talk to the dog trainer you are interested in hiring to determine their dog training philosophy and methods. Make sure that they do not use domineering or corrective methods and that their training is dog-friendly and family-friendly. It's also a good idea to determine their level of experience working with dog training cases such as yours - for example, are they experienced with teaching basic obedience only? Do they have experience working with behavior problems? or are you looking for a dog sport competition trainer? These types of training require different skill sets and experience. Finally, it's a good idea to get references or to have the trainer's name given to you as a referral from your veterinarian or local pet food supply store.
