FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates depend on session length and grade level. I offer a discount if you book multiple sessions a week or sign up for a full semester upfront. The first 15 minutes of the initial session are free, that's just so I can figure out where your child is struggling before we get into paid time. If you need to cancel, just give me 24 hours notice and there's no fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually start by talking to the parent (and the student too, if they're up for it) about what topics are causing trouble and what's already been tried. In the first session I do a quick diagnostic to see where the actual gaps are, sometimes it's the current topic, sometimes it's something from a year or two back that never got solid. Then I put together a simple plan with short term goals and keep parents updated on progress every few sessions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm an engineering student at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (Grainger College of Engineering). I use math constantly in my coursework, differential equations, linear algebra, physics, etc. so my own fundamentals stay sharp. That also helps me explain why a method actually works instead of just having a student memorize steps.
