Introduction: My name is Joel Martinez, I'm a portrait and event photographer based in New Jersey.
Born in The Bronx, I grew up in Monroe, NY. I spent my early years traversing through the streets of NYC. I now live in New Jersey. I visit the city often.
I studied Communication at the University at Buffalo - SUNY, where I discovered my love for photography. I am also a member of NYC Prime Shot. Since June 2020, I have worked with 90+ clients capturing weddings, sweet sixteens, family portraits, etc.
My goal is to show the beauty, grace, strength, and enthusiasm of people. I focus on non-models and place regular people in situations that highlight an aspect of who they are. I strive for a sense of integrity and fortitude in my work.
As your photographer, you will discover an individual who is willing to go that extra mile, spending the time necessary to give you the service that you deserve.
When I’m not taking pictures of people and events, I love to travel the world and photograph the culture, play basketball, and take pictures of my girlfriends dog Mikey.

We used Joel for our wedding and he was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was kind, professional and captured the best images for my wedding. He edited and sent us back the picture a little over a week of the wedding. He is very responsive and I will def be using him again for future events. I highly recommend him if you are on the fence in hiring a photographer for your special day. You will not regret it.

Joel was very responsive from the very first day of booking right up to the day of the event. He explained everything his service offered, and was willing to accommodate us. He showed up on time and by on time I mean a few moments before the scheduled time so he could set up. He was very cool and calm, extremely considerate. On the day of my wedding it rained all day which caused a delay for us and he was so very understanding while I was worried he would be pissed. He was friendly, easy to get along with while remaining completely professional. He directed us how to pose for the photos, correct angles etc and made sure to capture some important shots (will write another review after we get our photos).
I would definitely recommend Joel for your event, he is pleasant, considerate and professional.

Hi all - If I could rate Joel 10/10 on work quality, professionalism, responsiveness, value and punctuality I would! (Thumbtack only lets you choose 3). I found Joel on Thumbtack after scrambling to find a photographer for my brother's surprise engagement to his girlfriend in a somewhat rural area of New Jersey. My brother was overwhelmed (and is very shy) with his upcoming proposal and he needed us to step in and help organize photography for the big day. Joel was so responsive with only a few days notice and the quality of his work was amazing. He worked with me as I was the middle man between my brother (who is older and not great at this stuff). It was awesome! He was such a surprise for my brother's girlfriend (she did not see him hiding in order to get the awesome proposal shot). Joel was so great and took photos of my brother and his fiance and then some of the family members who were there to help celebrate following the proposal. We can't wait to share the photos and it has actually been hard to choose which we want to use for a Christmas card!!! Thanks again, Joel!

Joel was absolutely amazing.
Punctual, reliably, he made sure everyone had their pictures taken in my sweet 15 event. Took detailed pictures of all decorations. Communication was great, pictures come out amazing. He would capture every moment.
I would definitely book him again and recommend to everyone.

Wedding and Event Videography
We had a unique request for Joel to film our wedding ceremony and then immediately upload it online for our family in Australia (who couldn't travel due to Covid) to watch. Everything with Joel went seamlessly–he was responsive in the lead up and showed up early on the day-of. The video was uploaded so quickly afterwards and our family was thrilled to be able to watch while the reception was still going on. :) I don't know any other videographer who would have been able to pull it off like Joel. And his rates are incredibly fair! We're so happy to have the footage since the whole thing really did go by in a blur. Don't hesitate to hire Joel, you won't be disappointed. Thank you!
