Introduction: I have been involved in the tile and marble industry since I've been a young man. My teacher, a master craftsman, shared with me the art of tile installation. After years of working in this trade, I'm now a tile and marble contractor myself, I feel very proud of the legacy and knowledge my grandfather gave to me.He taught me the importance of paying attention to detail and most importantly to be proud of all my work no matter the size. I complete every project knowing that the satisfaction of my customer is better than any advertisement and assures a glowing referral. There are many tile guys around but very few artisans. I love the variety of my profession most. One week I'm tiling a bathroom using tumbled marble and the following project a porcelain foyer. Every job is unlike the last, although the the same skill set is used, each tile, marble, granite, or mosaic project requires a slightly different installation process. Variety is what I like most.

Alan completed a mosaic tile backsplash for my kitchen. It took quite a while to coordinate a start date, but it was worth the wait. The tile I selected was a combination of glass and stone mini-tiles which are difficult to grout because of so many grout lines. Alan paid careful attention to detail and I am very pleased with the end result.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Prices vary moderately depending on a number of factors. First, what material is being considered. The installation process varies from basic tile to polished marble. Ceramic or porcelain can be put down fairly easy, assuming the substrate is acceptable. Marble on the other hand is laid closely together so each tile needs to be laid perfectly level to the next, although the subfloor may look level to the eye, there must be enough cement under the marble to allow the tile to "float" perfectly level. Price is commensurate to time. Second, condition of existing floor, does the old floor have to be removed? How many floors are there? Ideally it is best to get down to the original sub floor if it's wood, if concrete, it's a must to remove all old flooring to the slab to ensure a long lasting tile floor. Third, is the area to be tiled level? Tile is beautiful, except if it's not level. An unleveled floor cannot be hidden like it can with carpet. Tile, marble, porcelain or mosaics whatever is being used, just won't look good unless installed level. There are more than a few variables when pricing a tile project, so Exclusive Design will explain all the options with a detailed proposal and we are always a call away.
