FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a CPA, I am required to take 120 hours of continuing professional education during each three-year licensing period. Also, as an attorney, I am required to take 24 hours of continuing legal education during each two-year licensing period. I have always taken more than the minimum number of hours for both licenses.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always enjoyed numbers, so getting into accounting and finance seemed very natural to me. After graduating with my MBA in finance and doing tax and other legal research, I decided to also earn my law degree. Most of my attorney friends hate numbers, so I suppose I am a little unusual in that regard.,
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
While price is always a factor when hiring any professional, please be mindful of the risks of hiring the wrong person. For example, for a complicated tax return, there is a much greater risk of either paying too much in tax or possibly getting audited if the return is done improperly, so hiring a highly experienced professional (like me) may be more cost effective even if the fee is a little higher.
