We had a our AC unit leak and needed to replace the flooring and some doors. I knew once we met wit ASH that he was the one we wanted to do the job. His pricing was excellent and the work quality was amazing. We wound up asking him to do more after he started his project! We had 4 inside doors and frames replaced, 1 outside screen door replaced, the flooring torn up and replaced, molding throughout our living room and window, and painting! They even did extra little touches, such as painting the front door and adding molding to a few extra spots to make the whole project come together. Everything was done within a week! Everyday after they were done working, they would clean up the area because we had 3 kids, so they wanted to make it safe. We were very happy with him and would hire again in a heartbeat, we were already talking about the next project we would like done! Thank you again so much!!!

Based on what I am going to say - one might think I am a friend of the contractor (Shawn) - let me assure you that I did not know Shawn before meeting him through Thumbtack asking him to come to my home to give me an estimate on finishing my basement. I have had horrible experiences with contractors in the past and sadly I expected this project to be no different. Much to my SHOCK it was an entirely different experience working with Shawn. For starters, I received 6 quotes on finishing my basement and Shawn had one of the lowest (fairest) price estimates. Two of my estimates were almost double the price of what Shawn's was. Shawn even suggested we frame the walls slightly differently since they were not load bearing and he checked with my township to make sure they would approve the slight difference and that alone saved me $1,000. Not one other contractor suggested this. Several contractors told me that my basement would take at least 3 months or so to finish and Shawn had it done - inspected and all in about 3 weeks of work time. He was always responsive to my emails/texts/calls to him, he showed up every single day that he said that he would and showed up on time (8 am). This even included showing up when it snowed and was below freezing weather. He worked a full day only taking a brief (sometimes only 30 mins) lunch (I've had other contractors who disappeared for hours during 'lunch'), and he cleaned up whatever mess he made as he was leaving each day - literally sweeping/mopping his way out of my front door. He was friendly, courteous, caring, professional - AND he did a fantastic job. My basement looks absolutely amazing. It was completely unfinished and its hard to believe that by looking at it now. I was so pleasantly surprised to have such a positive experience and pay a fair price and have my basement turn out amazing. I would recommend Shawn without any hesitation. He even noticed my tire was flat one day as he was entering my home and he filled it up with air for me. I truly can not say anything negative about the experience at all. Positive experience in every single way - and a great final product.

I usually price labor and materials separate as a lot of people purchase their own materials with a credit card to build their points .

Contact and get a feel for what they are looking for , meet at the project and give some suggestions, work up a quote and email it to them to look over and respond with any questions, no pressure sales pitch .
