Chef Yehuriz Hernandez was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and raised in Jersey City, NJ. Though he had many childhood dreams, becoming a chef was not initially one of them. Over the years, he honed his culinary skills by working alongside talented chefs at prestigious establishments such as Hyatt Regency, Hilton Hotels, Eleven Madison Park, and various acclaimed restaurants across the tri-state area. Drawing on this rich experience, Yehuriz launched his first private chef business, which paved the way for opening his own restaurant, El Empanada King. He later expanded his culinary ventures by opening several other restaurants, including Rust Tavern, Gaia & Loki, and The Whiskey Priest.

I absolutely loved everything about my experience with this Chef; from beginning to end the process was easy and stress-free. I appreciate how responsive he was. I was booking a last-minute event and he reached out immediately and was able to work with me to pull off what I thought would be impossible. Not only that, but even with the short notice, he was able to put together an amazing menu that everyone enjoyed. When I read the menu and saw the appetizer, it was something new to me and I couldn’t wait to try it, and it did not disappoint. For the main, it was some of the best steak I’ve ever eaten. For the dessert, my husband loves chocolate and he was absolutely blown away by the flavors in the dessert that was so simple, so elegant, but so flavorful. Thank you so much Chef Yehuriz for an amazing event.
