Introduction: Welcome to YUN Piano Studio Thumbtack Page! My name is Lyn-Amelia Guo and I am a Classical Pianist. This is my private studio, where I practice innovative methods of piano pedagogy and aim for helping students advancing their music endeavors. The Studio offers different levels of Piano Lessons from piano lovers to professionals (if you wish to explore into that path), levels are divided as Beginner, Intermediate, Advance, Pre-College, and College level. My teaching philosophy is to inspire the inner creativity within students and helping them to create authentic music interpretations, through variety of courses, not only piano techniques, but also musicianship class, ear training, as well as classical music history in general. if you are someone who is looking for a creative way of learning piano through psychological personality observation, enhancing body sensitives, or just gain more knowledge of what is right for you in performing piano music. All prospective students are eligible for a FREE 30-45 minutes Assessment Lesson, which I will conduct an interview with you, and test your natural music strength. If you wish to schedule an assessment lesson, please email me~ Also, please note, assessment lesson is not necessarily implying that you have to commit to the studio, I consider this is an opportunity for us to get to know each other as well, furthermore, I tailor all my teaching material for each students individually based on their personality assessment, therefore it is essential for me to know your personality and your goals, which will eventually dictate whether the studio is a good fit for you or not. I held an Master of Music degree from Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University in Piano Performance, and a Bachelor of Music degree from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in Piano performance. over the 20 some years of performing and music studying, I am very familiar with all Russian, European, and American school styles of piano performance. In the past, My young students have won major youth competitions in Asia and Europe, and few of them has been accepted into Pre-College Program in Shanghai Conservatory of Music at age 8-12. Other young students in the states have won Indiana state high school music competition gold medal in the past few years. And Adult students are currently pursuing their ABRSM level 8 exams and performance diplomas. I started off as competition coach, specialized in technical fixes and efficiency practicing methods, over the years, I incorporated different approaches from different schools, added some tips of my own, now the studio is running on a 'no textbook' situation but very carefully selected repertoire and exercise for each students. However, for progress acknowledgement, I recommend all my students to participate in ABRSM exams. Due to Covid-19 situation, all my lessons are currently taught online through Zoom(USA and other western countries) and WeChat or Tencent meeting(for china students). On Zoom I have a home studio set up for multi-camera angles as well as professional recording microphones for audio receiving, which can insure the student gets the best visual and audio quality. I highly recommend Amelia! She became my piano teacher in early 2020. My piano learning as an adult beginner went to a whole new level after I started taking lessons with her. First, Amelia brought me up to speed on music theory. Then Amelia started me on finger exercises and short classical pieces, which are fun to play. During our lessons Amelia is supportive and creates a friendly, patient atmosphere. Her wide knowledge of teaching and playing techniques made it easy for her to adapt to my needs. She responds quickly and makes scheduling lessons easy and flexible.

I am a high school student from Seymour, and I was preparing for ISSMA solo. I received a state gold in the first division at last. The overall experience working with Mrs. Guo was absolutely fantastic and worth-paying the effort. I started playing the piano when I was nearly 5 years old. But even though I have played for all these years, I don’t really understand what an instrument means to me, so it is always my dream to find a professional teacher who can teach me not only how to play the song, but to truly understand it. I chose Chopin Opus 32. No. 2 for my contest, and I learned to treat it as my friend so I could express my emotions and feelings when I actually played it. Even one piece of song can be interpreted in various ways, and I find my own pattern under Mrs. Guo’s guidance. I really appreciate her help, and I know this is the experience I will never forget.

Lyn is a very good piano teacher, she can teach you from all levels. I started learning with absolutely no knowledge of music, notes, or anything. But after spending a while with her I gradually got better. Unfortunately, I was not very cooperative, I was a very much difficult student and I had much lack of commitment. With new things coming into my life, High ability classes, chess tournaments and study, all of these combined with my lack of committment led to quitting her lessons and focusing on other things. If you are willing to put in the work and effort and try your best to complete your assignments, I have no doubt you will reach a very high level in no more than 2 years. She is a very good teacher, and I’m sure you will grow and succeed very fast.
