I hired James for a garage painting/epoxy floor combo with some minor electrical work and unfortunately it turned out to be a terrible experience. At first impression, James came off with a very nice demeanor. He seemed to know what he was talking about and gave me a detailed contract outlining the job terms. Things began going downhill pretty much right away, after his electrician took an entire day to figure out the electrical modifications that I had requested. The electrician had to come back not once but twice because he did not double check his work. As for the paint job, pretty much all of the patchwork James did remains visible. He painted over several areas that he spackled without sanding them out first. He had even missed part of the perimeter of the ceiling and on the day that he showed up to complete it, he didnt bring a ladder big enough to access the high ceiling. I am still finding areas of thin paint coverage on walls that were supposed to be double coated. If you are thinking about hiring him to do a floor, don’t. The contract stated that the concrete floor would be sanded down to an optimal binding profile for the new epoxy and that all of the prior existing sealants would be removed. Instead he decided to cut corners and he applied the new finish over a scuff sanded floor that still contained areas of old finish, assuring me that there would be no issues. Aside from the poor cosmetic appearance, it is already delaminating under our car tires and it has been 1 week. I tried to be reasonable and work with James throughout the job but even with his attempts to correct the problems that I pointed out, the overall workmanship was unbelievably bad. Based on my experience, I would question the authenticity of his 5 star reviews.
