Introduction

As a cinematographer, editor and colorist, I work in boutique style and believe in hand-crafted work that rises from heart. No matter it's a wedding, event, dance performance, music video or film, I hunt for artistic moments behind the lens when I film, and edit with a poetic storyboard in mind. I enjoy subtlety and the beauty of random sequence, yet balance them with logic and sense of flow. I don't stuff myself with formulas; every piece of project is a new beginning for me, an opportunity to seek creativity at its best. I love to be behind the camera lens and capture beauty that way. It gives me great pleasure. I also love sitting in front of the computer and piece together the clips and let the story be told that way. This is truly my dream job!

While Videotaping Xiaofen becomes one with the action. She immerses herself seamlessly and you don't know she is there. Then the miracle happens: you get a video that not only reflects what when on in the room but also catches the atmosphere and magnifies it. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. All my pricing and packages are transparently described on my website FenVideo.com, under the "Packages" page.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My website is very updated with recent work samples, FAQ, Pricing & Packages. I also meet with clients personally or have phone meetings to discuss their needs and visions. Once they decide to use my service, I send out a contract for them to review. They sign and send me a deposit to secure the filming date.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied in NJ Film School, took many film courses and workshops there. I did a ton of study from online sources and still do. I'm mostly self-taught in the field of cinematography. I discovered all those "Sweet Spots" of camera settings in different lighting and speed condition through vast amount of field experiences, over the years I also discovered the editing tricks to present the film-look those moments deserve.
