- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Did you know that Most states, requires anyone performing work in your home to be licensed? For example NJ CONTRACTORS' REGISTRATION ACT? The difference from a professional and an unprofessional is a license and insurance. When you hire an unlicensed & uninsured contractor, you're really playing Russian roulette with your project. You can end up with all sorts of problems such as code violations, fines or damage to property or equipment. You can even end up getting sued by them or those they bring to your job site if they get hurt while working at the site. Many so called Contractors/Handymen are taking advantage of unknowing consumers. What often happens in such circumstances the consumer later finds out that they are hit with all sorts of hidden surprises, fines or shabby or an improper work done. Often contractors do things that void the manufactures warranties so to cut corners or come in lower. What happens in those situations after the contractors workmanship warranty expires, the products fail. Then when you try to take advantage of the products warranty the manufactures voids the warranty. Some times they dont comply with codes or registration requirements and soon after you find you are in violation and/or your equipment or products purchased does not meet the requirements and/or are unsafe.
