John was absolutely wonderful to work for he did an amazing job. With wallpaper you can end up with a lot of waste. He did none which in the end saved me money which is very important. And he is a jolly Good Fellow!.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There is no simple answer to properly pricing a job. Too many businesses take advantage of their clients. I strive to be as competitive as possible. My time, expertise, and talent go into every project. I have to sleep at night, so I want to be fair to both my clients and myself. Many projects are straight forward because the phases of the job can be accurately estimated from start to finish. Other projects are less defined, so time & material pricing is most fair to both parties. My reputation is on the line with every job I complete, so my pricing has to be reasonable.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A nice and easy working relationship is essential for the client. Reliable communication helps keep everyone on the same page. Understanding the client's goals and setting realistic expectations for the finished job and its cost makes things easier from start to finish.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the construction field since 1972. I was just a kid when I began working with my dad in his home improvement business. My two younger brothers grew up in the business too. I began taking on my own jobs when I was 15. I needed to be dropped off and picked up at my clients' homes because I was too young to drive. After working with those clients, they called me, not my dad whenever they needed something done. I began as a painter and paper-hanger. Over the years, that led to every home repair imaginable, from finished basements, cabinet-making, and deck building. Those projects led to additions, which led to custom home building. If there is a home project that needs to be done, I've probably done it many times before.
