I was preparing to have flooring installed in my kitchen after a plumbing issue which resulted in pulling all of the floor cabinetry from the walls prior to measurement. The day before my installation date, I quickly became aware that I needed to have the cabinetry reinstalled and began looking frantically for someone to help me do so. I found Construction for Good on Thumbtack after reaching out to a number of carpenters and handymen who were unable to help due to the number of cabinets and/or the timing of the job.
Vitaliy spent time asking good questions before we met the day of the installation at my home to best understand what I needed. As soon as he arrived, he got right to the work of measuring and marking the cabinet areas so that the installers would know where to work around. Before long, he made the decision to temporarily install the cabinets to ensure their proper placement instead of marking the areas they would be placed in, and once they were finished installing the floor, he did all of the necessary work to level and permanently install each cabinet, even reinforcing the stability of the sink cabinet that was damaged when the water mitigation team removed them.
He cut and installed new mounding around the cabinets as well as around the perimeter of the room (the installers didn’t install the trim due to an error in the sizing of the trim).
Over the three days he worked in my kitchen, he showed up when he said he was going to show up. He made recommendations that were meaningful to the completion of the work, and he worked collaboratively with the plumbing professionals to the point that they asked for his business card for future possibilities of partnership. He was kind and courteous, and seemed to care about what the completion of the work in my home meant to my family.
Vitaliy brought a sense of calm to a potentially tenuous situation. The work he did is beautiful. He’s my carpenter now. He’s already looking at a new project in my home.
