I choose Polo and Associates Home Inspections after finding them online and checking with the BBB. Seeing that the company had an A+ rating with no complaints in the past, I decided to contact them via email. Dave Polo was always very prompt in returning my emails and was able to schedule our home inspection within a few days. He was extremely thorough in his inspection and pointed out all of the issues with the house down to the smallest detail. We feel confident in making the purchase knowing, ahead of time, what issues need to be addressed. I received his inspections reports almost immediately. They were emailed to me the same evening after the inspection. All in all, working with Dave was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend him to anyone in the market for a home inspection. I know there are many unqualified home inspectors out there and I was very confident with Dave's knowledge and abilities

The owner, David Polo, is not a very pleasant person to deal with. During the inspection he made rude comments about how something is wrong but we aren't going to get it fixed anyway. He also failed to properly perform the radon testing. The reports were sent in a reasonable amount of time, except for the radon test. I had to contact him about the radon test, only to find out that he did not get the canister to the lab in the correct amount of time. Instead of apologizing and saying that he will get to the home right away to do a new test, he insisted that I was responsible for coming and getting a new test from him and performing it myself. He has also not been very responsive as to when he will be able to get out to do the test. His website states that he has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, but that isn't true. I am not satisfied with his performance of the radon test and Mr. Polo refuses a refund based on the fact that I didn't bring it up when he was doing the test (although that would be impossible since this happened after the test).Do not use him unless you want aggravation and are okay with having to move your closing back due to late results from the tests.

Well this guy was a very interesting individual to say the least. I am not sure who he even was but he was certainly not my client and I do not even know what he was doing at the inspection. His problem was that I "failed to properly perform the radon test". That is this blatant defamation of my professional character and slander that will and probably already has gotten him in trouble in the past. I performed the radon test in accordance with the state of NJ, DEP and EPA to the "T". His problem (who ever he is) is that the Post office took 9 days to deliver the radon to the lab rendering it invalid. I then told my client that while the mail is obviously out of my control I will at my cost perform another radon test for her for free; hand deliver it to the lab; and get her results 2 weeks prior to closing. My client never responded to me. Only than this guy and these blatant lies and inflammatory remarks. Perhaps he has been successful with his shakedown/entitlement perspective in the past with other companies so he is back at it again. I don't know but there is a reason I have been in business 29 years and have trained a dozen home inspection companies in order to receive their licenses. It is because I love what I do and am very good at it. I go above and beyond for my clients and don't mind doing so. I make a living almost exclusively from my clients and not realtors referrals like most inspectors. Fortunately this character was not my client but somehow through these channels he still has the ability to attempt to harm upstanding businesses through blatant lies. Well, "what comes around goes around" and I he will get his someday.

I am not the most experienced with inspectors or inspections, but I am familiar with process and attention to detail.Mr. Polo was efficient and clear to point out professional insights and differentiate with personal opinions during the inspection. We managed to conduct the termite, oil, radon, water and asbestos testing completed and/or prepped for lab work within 2 hours. I am very pleased with the character, personality and professionalism of Mr.Polo - in addition to his step-by-step approach in patiently explaining his findings. Anyone who would complain about Mr. Polo's service, was clearly not invested or involved in ensuring the quality of service received is of the highest and robust. Mr. Polo provided less than 24 HR turnaround by sending reports ASAP, and lab work is on the lab - not the inspector.Thank you David - may have saved me a tremendous error and cost with your professionalism and suggestions.

Polo & Associates Home Inspections is a superb company. I know you are asking why I say this ok let me break it down. David, or as we now friends call him Dave, came to inspect a house we are looking at. Dave, has a great attitude and personality he also have a sense of humor. He had me cracking up cause he really like the view from the house. He was saying I don't get it with this view the house is still available. Dave, checked the house from it's guts to it's glory. He started outside checking steps, gutters, deck, roof and ground that's just to name a few things. I know I don't have to tell you what an inspector inspects. Dave, told pics told us the good the ok the bad the needs of a quick fix. Answered any questions we asked what can I say but hire Polo & Associates Home Inspections. You will thank yourself for hiring a superb inspector. You will get a serious gameplan cause you will receive a full report the same day.Radon testing, termite inspection, underground oil tank testing, plumbing and electrical did I tell you friendly. Dave, does not work for the realtor not for the bank not for himself but he works for you. Thanks Dave, we will throw a steak on the grill for you.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Oh yes, I have to obtain 40 credits every 2 years to satisfy my licensing obligations. I earn credits by attending al day educational seminars all around the state. This keeps me abreast of all the new and many products that manufacturers incorporate into the market. There are new codes that also can indirectly affect my profession. I also, have trained and mentored a dozen home inspection companies so they can get licensure in New Jersey. I access the internet for online education as well. There are many reputable sources on online education for me since I belong to many inspector associations such as ASHI. ALPHI, NACHI, HUD, TIE, etc.
