Introduction
Hyerin Kim is a Korean flutist who has over 10 years of experience. She graduated from Yewon Art School in Korea and Temple University in Philadelphia where she obtained a Bachelor of Music degree and Master of Music degree in Flute Performance. Her principal teachers have included Principle Flutist Jeffrey Khaner and former second Flutist Loren Lind of Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as founder of Dolce Suono Ensemble, Mimi Stillman.
Additionally, she has extensive experience performing in a variety of professional ensembles and solo performances. These include partaking in the Temple University Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, New School Woodwind Quintet, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Guri Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, Lincoln Center and other popular venues as a soloist and ensemble musician.
Hyerin has been the recipient of various awards including being the first place winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artist award, Eastern European Orchestra Competition, The Music Competition, and Eumag Chunchu Competition. She was also the best solo recipient of World Strides Heritage Performance Maestro Award NY and many others.
Hyerin has experience providing private flute lessons working with students of all ages and levels for over 8 years. Additionally, she worked as a teaching assistant for the Community Music Scholars Program (CMSP) at Temple University. Hyerin was also a Wind Section instructor for Gloria Youth Orchestra in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Hyerin’s students went on to accomplish great feats including ranking 2nd place in a 40 flute player competition at the District Orchestra Audition. Her students have also been accepted into various prestigious programs such as Allegretto Ensemble from NextGen Youth Music Program and the District Orchestra & Band going on to win the local ensemble competition.
She offers both in-person and online lessons to students of all levels (complete beginners to college levels) and all ages to achieve students’ individualized goals.
Students will have individual training to build strong fundamental skills in their posture, tone quality, sound production etc.
Students will be prepared for ensemble placement auditions, regional orchestra auditions, youth orchestra auditions, summer camps, and competitions.
All students are provided with personalized and structured lesson plans.
Hyerin’s goal is to help her students reach a level of mastery with the flute while having fun at the same time!
