"They removed a ton of wall paper, patched up endless holes from an antiquated alarm system on EVERY WINDOW, they removed old molding and replaced with new, they skim coated an entire bathroom, and a bedroom wall, they painted my kitchen cabinets, and brought someone to replace my backsplash. They also did some mill work for me to update a bunch of areas... and every single room was painted top to bottom- PERFECTLY. They even removed these two huge mirrors for me which was tricky. They also did me a huge favor of removing some furniture and bring it downstairs for me, for free. They did endless more things and they did it WELL. When time was running out, they brought over more workers. Their crew is respectful, trustworthy, and neat. They cleaned up before they left and left the house spotless so that we could move in with young kids and unpack. My favorite thing about the workers too is that they were friendly and always in a good mood. They seemed to love their job. Working with Alex and Elizabeth was a pleasure and they are the perfect team. I changed my mind about paint colors 5 times, and they were patient and understanding. I highly recommend Arte Maya Quality Painting and will be working with them in the near future. They will paint the exterior of my house in the spring and a bunch of other projects I have planned. They are my forever painters."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.
