I have been training with Sifu Lawrence Hill for a little over two years now. Sifu Hill is an excellent teacher and provides holistic, integrated training. I would recommend his instruction to anyone looking to better understand their body and themselves.Jan 13, 2020
Sifu Lawrence Hill is one of a kind. He's a man of great warmth and compassion, sharing his knowledge in the complexities of martial arts with intensity, focusing on each student to ensure that each is truly learning. The path that he shares is called systemswithinsystems, a blend of the many philosophies and martial arts fighting styles that he has studied over the past 40 plus years. His expertise is undeniable and fierce. His teaching style combines demonstration, lecture and practice, lots of practice, to create a strong foundation. His teachings in tai chi and meditation, combined with the physical exercise, result in improved body strength, while cultivating self-defense, mindfulness and the health of inner awareness. I highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in truly learning the arts.Jan 16, 2020
Sifu Hill has been an incredible mentor to me for many years. Training with him has not only improved my physical abilities, it has given me the tools to deal with challenges in all venues of life. He's the real deal, and I would (and have) recommend him to anyone looking for a true teacher of the mind and body.Jan 1, 2020
Sifu Hill is very good at figuring out what you need, based on where you are. We all want to get to the top of the mountain, but our paths to the summit may not all be the same. Everyone is a unique puzzle, and Sifu Hill can help you put yourself together!Jan 5, 2020
In this review, I would like to offer a perspective distinct from the traditional "is he a Kung Fu bad ass?" Lawrence's training is holistic. Skillfully, he guides me to view things in a new way, adapting both my personality and lifestyle. He asks the right questions which facilitates very solid decision making. He has helped me to focus, prioritize and introduced me to the concepts of being present and making space. If you are ever fortunate enough to have a purposeful conversation with him, you will almost certainly be exposed to the notion of “understanding your Dragon.” Wrestling with this idea coupled with intense training have been the keys to my martial development. The training is rooted in real life experience, no 'insert fluff here' to get to the next level. Bottom line - It just plain works! He is unique among teachers; I believe this difference is real and profound for it not only builds external skills but moves the Art Internally - perhaps the true goal of all Martial study.Dec 30, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge a flat fee of $165 for an hour session. The first session is 90 minutes at no extra cost.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I prefer to have an in depth conversation about the goals and interests of each student and explain my personal philosophies and methods to make sure we’re a good match. This is done in the first 90 minute session.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Over the many years of training in different styles of martial arts from a number of excellent teachers I was able to develop my own system which I call Systems Within Systems. I teach others how to understand and develop the mind, body and spirit through the training and mindfulness.
