Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have a B.M. in jazz studies and performance (guitar) from William Paterson University, which has a world-renowned jazz program. Though I studied jazz and classical music academically, I also have a background in rock and play and teach a wide variety of styles including: rock, pop, jazz, R&B, classical, blues, and more. I have over 15 years of professional performance and teaching experience. I help students unlock their full musical potential by developing personalized lesson plans that I build according to the students interests, goals, and favorite artists/songs. Lesson plans are based on a structured order of songs to learn which take the student through beginner to advanced levels of playing, ear training, proper technique, and understanding of musical concepts/music theory. This keeps the focus on the songs and having fun while ensuring that the proper musical knowledge is being transmitted to maximize musical growth. Of course, if any student wants to focus more on the technical side and delve deeply into a particular area, then we will certainly do so. Beginner to advanced instruction offered in the following areas: Guitar Drums Harmony Reading Music Technique Composition/Songwriting Improvisation (Blues, Rock, Jazz) Ear Training Fretboard Study Music Theory Rhythm (Odd-meter, polyrhythms)

Guitar Lessons

Pretty cool guy. I have fat short fingers and tried learning guitar for two years and it never worked then I went to Rich Campanella and I learned it in less than two weeks.

Guitar Lessons

I’ve only had one lesson with Rich but I think we see eye to eye and there will be many more to come. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and most of all patient. He takes the time to ask your goals and tailors the lessons to your abilities and the things you want to achieve. Highly recommend Rich.

Rich helped me greatly improve my guitar playing, everything he said was clear and understandable. He has always been in high spirits when he teaches so the lessons are enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

My guitar lessons with Rich have been my weekly pick-me-up for the past 4 years. I have learned and grown so much as a musician because of his ability to incorporate theory and skills into every new song I learn. He is always flexible with scheduling lessons. His obvious love, knowledge, and appreciation of music is inspiring, and on top of that, his patience and communication skills make him an outstanding teacher. I highly recommend!!!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, I get to know the student and their goals/musical interests. Then I design a personalized lesson plan for them that takes their goals into consideration and combines what they need to know to become successful musicians - ear training, proper technique, classic guitar songs/repertoire - with their favorite songs to keep them motivated and having fun while learning.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelor of Music degree in jazz studies and performance from William Paterson University, one of the most prestigious music programs for jazz in the world.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started seriously teaching about 10 years ago when I was hired to teach private lessons at an established music studio. At the studio, I teach 25-30 students per week and prepare selected students for a recital at the end of each school year. Also about 10 years ago, I began teaching group lessons at music summer camps. We organize students into bands (usually rock and jazz) and help them prepare for a professional recording session at the end of each week as well as a performance at a professional venue for family and friends. Before that, I taught private lessons while in high school. When I was even younger I would share what I was learning in my lessons with friends who weren't able to take lessons. I've always loved teaching!
