Introduction
I’m a personal trainer, certified nutritionist, Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist, and 500-hour yoga instructor. I have completed a 100-hour biomechanics and anatomy training with physical therapists. I initially got into lifting weights to try to lose weight, but quickly discovered the empowerment and strength I felt when lifting heavy. It also helped me with a lot of the pain that I was feeling from previous injuries (of which I have had plenty!!). Whether or not weight loss is your goal, I want to help you feel empowered and strong in your body. My goal with all of my clients - yoga, personal training, and nutrition - is to help them understand movement, and help them build strength so they move better, feel better, and can live a happier and healthier life. I typically work with older women, introducing them to weight training and helping them feel better, move better, and get stronger so they can continue to do the things they love as they age. Although I usually work with older women, I AM taking on other clients outside of that demographic who also want to enter the weight room and learn to lift! I also provide virtual training for those who are not local, or who are more independent and want to save money. This can either look like a 1-1 session over Zoom, or we would connect via an app that I use that helps me program and track your workouts and lets you upload videos for form feedback. I have been doing private yoga in the morning with Kate. She is amazing and has helped my practice immensely. She is very kind, genuine, and generous with her time. She always comes prepared to teach me--with notes and everything. She is also very knowledgable and helpful with rehab and recovery. Kate is my personal trainer! What I mean by personal is that she takes into account my fitness goals, develops an individualized set of exercises to not only meet but also to exceed my fitness goals and expectations. Kate is an active listener as well as an acute observer, with the ability to design as well as adjust the training session or exercise based on an incorrect posture, movement or physical limitation. Yet, she has the capability of encouraging me and giving me the confidence to go beyond what I think is possible. Since working with Kate, I have extra energy, increased flexibility combined with strength. I’ve taken Kate Forman Yoga classes in person multiple times in the past. Even though it’s in a group setting, she tends to go around helping each person individually should they have problems with their poses, or in my case providing a little bit more of an advanced version of it. For this reason I decided to do one on one sessions with her. Due to the pandemic, we’ve been doing these sessions remotely. She asked me what my goals were and geared the sessions toward them. For example, I wanted to do a handstand. I knew I already had the shoulder and arm strength but just couldn’t get it. I showed her what I was working on and she noticed I didn’t have the mobility in my shoulder and wrist. She then worked with me to increase the range of motion so now I’m able to have my arms directly over my shoulder which helps to keep my body centered in a straight line. My wrist is much more flexible so my whole palm is able to push against the floor now for the support I need. I’m currently able to do a handstand by hovering my feet away from the wall and beginning to practice handstand in an open field This is only one of many movements Kate helped me to improve on and I highly recommend her.
