About
Because I am a full time pianist, studio owner and instructor, I am beyond dedicated to my curriculum, my students and their families. I develop a lot of my own materials and resources for students, and am proud of have created a music-play curriculum for young students to learn and explore in a way that is educationally solid, yet fun and motivating. Teaching through play is a powerful tool to harness in order to ensure that young students connect with music and allow it to make a lasting impression on them as they grow. I host recitals, participate in festivals, and run various incentive programs throughout the year to encourage students to stay active. I have a Music Library that includes music games, CD's, sheet music, and other materials that get students interested in things that go beyond the scope of their weekly assignment.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

As mentioned above, the studio's pricing model is based on an annual fee divided into equal monthly payments. Our per lesson rate boils down to $30/30 mins, $41/45 minutes, and $55/60 minutes. However, monthly payments are $107, $147, and $197 respectively, to account for studio closings during holidays, snowy weather, teacher vacation and professional development conference days. This flat rate system allows everyone to keep a consistent budget month to month regardless of the number of lessons. Families who instead wish to pay in 4 semester installments may do so in advance.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an active member of my local and state MTNA chapters, and frequently attend the national MTNA conference. I subscribe to national publications for music and follow several piano teaching blogs to keep my ideas fresh and up-to-date. I also run my own Resource Blog for teachers. (currently being expanded and moved to it's new URL!)

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When searching for a piano teacher who fits your needs, ask for a resume!! Not every teacher is a perfect fit for every student. If you are a serious student, ask to view curriculum details and a list of repertoire. Because private musical study in the United States is not standardized, pretty much anyone who thinks they can play can advertise to give lessons. Look into it! Make sure the teacher you go with has experience, has a plan, and has credentials that make them a credible instructor.
