Introduction: Welcome to My World The world where I create beautiful, functional solutions for you and your home! I'm Shannon Richardson, owner, designer and creator of SLK Designs, LLC. I'm so glad you stopped in to see me, I want to tell you a little about myself. Well here it goes, I'm an Interior designer who specializes in Kitchens and Baths. I love the technical aspect of that specialty and the creative part too! My career for many years has been always working for showrooms, these big obnoxious places where all we were encouraged to do was SELL you, yes really. Well after years of trying to fit my round peg into such a square hole (too many gaps and empty spaces), I decided enough is enough! I want to create a whole space for my clients, I want to walk you through this sometimes difficult process and educate you while I'm at it. I love what I do and that final day after everything is just so and you are like “OH MY GOSH!,” well that's what I live for, really. My clients happiness at the end is all I need to keep going. SO I decided to strike out on my own, be the friend, confidant, and yes designer of your space. What I enjoy about my "job" if you can call it that , its more like my passion. I'm passionate about the design functionality first. If it doesn't work for you and your family, well then its OUT! After the function is right, everything else falls into place. Working with my clients and creating a home or office that is functional and beautiful is a lifes dream, your "WOW" is what I enjoy most.

I was referred to Shannon through a friend who had previously worked with her at another location. She did such a great job with my friend's kitchen that he kept her contact and I'm glad he did, because Shannon is nothing but excellence throughout the whole project. She did great work even with my limited budget and I could not have asked for anything less! My friends were more than impressed when I told them how much I spent! I can't speak for the design but we had some problems getting the material on the date promised or the right sizes. Our major issues started when SLK sold us on them performing project management and using their contractor. On demo day I came home from work to find they had removed the tub and opened a path in front of the filter bank for air flow from the demo area directly to our evap coil. I sealed the area with cardboard but this was not a good beginning. In the eight weeks they worked on the project it was one thing after another, lack of reliable scheduling, project sequencing that made no sense, and most importantly the electrical and plumbing work was not being executed in a trademan like manner. After a final appeal to SLK we chose to shutdown the project due to property and life safety concerns. We're now financially hurting and will need to finish the project ourselves. Exactly what we were trying to avoid in the first place.

Dear Dan, First and most important is that Stephens Revamping and myself would be more than happy to finish the few things that need to be done. There were delays in custom material getting here when projected, SLK Designs does everything in its power to deal with issues that are ultimately out of our control. We did indeed make you aware of the delay as soon as we were aware. There are no perfect construction projects, issues come about with every project. We did our best to keep everything in a forward moving pace. If given the chance to finish you would have been very happy with the quality and beauty of your new bathroom. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience to your family. We wish you nothing but good will and happiness.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do charge a small design fee, I feel that its important to start the relationship off on a serious note, because its serious business spending that much money. But as you will see if we work together I'm worth every penny. My passion and knowledge show on everything I do.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always worked for showrooms and other firms, but felt that I was a round peg in a square hole, surrounded by gaps. I knew as an Independent I could fill those gaps for my clients and give them a complete design experience. So I opened SLK Designs and the rest is history!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with many different types of customers. Big budgets, small budgets, commercial companies and new builds.
