I have almost twenty years of experience painting murals and I believe my level of quality is far above the norm at a competitive price. Coming from an environmental background I try to use eco- friendly and recycled materials as much as possible. I think creating original art for people, whether it's for educational, environmental or aesthetic purposes is one of the coolest and rewarding careers you could have and I've been very fortunate to be able to make my living this way.

I have one of Mark's original paintings, a wonderful limited edition print and several of his book illustrations. The expressiveness and movement he puts into his animals is amazing and the colors are so rich in his acrylic painting that I can't tell it from an oil. Great work!

The first piece of Mark's art I acquired was obtained in a rather unorthodox way. He had painted a mural of a cornfield on panels for a Maryland nature center. The mural had to be cut to fit the exhibit and the excess sections were being thrown away. My husband was also working at the nature center and saw these beautiful pieces going into the dumpster. He rescued them, framed them and they now hang proudly on the wall of our living room. Since then I have commissioned Mark three more times for a rock sculpture, Bonsai tree sculpture and an illustration for our son. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Average pricing for a standard mural in acrylic is $20 per square foot. This may become less or more depending on level of detail, travel distance and height. (murals that are high need scaffold or lifts rented)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by giving a general price using what information is given, then have the client view samples of my work and determine if my style is for them, I then suggest a phone consultation to discuss ideas. I do a complimentary sketch if needed, this preliminary work gives the client an opportunity to see how we work together with no pressure.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Marine Biology along with my art background and the natural world is a big part of my art focus. My former career as a zookeeper and field biologist allowed me to develop my science illustration, sculpture and painting and this evolved over time into a full time art business.
