FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The cost to consult with one of our attorneys ranges from $150 to $350. We offer a $50 discount for those who elect to prepay for their consultations. As each family law case differs, the final cost of our services will vary as well. We are happy to discuss what clients can expect with pricing during our initial consultation.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Prospective clients are welcome to schedule a meeting through our online system at petrellilaw.com/schedule-a-consultation or by phone. Our lawyers are available for same-day, in-person consultations as well as video chat meetings for those who live far away or are otherwise unable to make it to one of our locations. During our first meeting, we will discuss goals and any potential obstacles that may arise. We’ll explain what to expect with regard to applicable issues including parental rights, custody, and division of property. If they decide to retain us as their counsel, we can we can begin the process toward resolution immediately after the first meeting. Then, our divorce lawyers stay with our clients every step of the way. We ensure the process is as easy and expedient as possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Each of our attorneys has the education and training needed to successfully represent individuals and families in their family law matters. For example, partner Thomas J. Petrelli Jr. earned his Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School. He also holds an LLM in trial advocacy from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law; this means that he has extra training to represent clients in cases that go to trial. Tom also has a strong background in mediation as well as handling high-asset divorce cases. Partner Melinda M. Previtera earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law. While in law school, she received a certification in mediation, conducted research in child advocacy rights, and completed a domestic violence clinic. Partner Diana C. Schimmel earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law. She then worked as a child advocate attorney for the Defender Association of Philadelphia; there she honed her courtroom presence and represented numerous dependent children. This is just a small snapshot of the education and training our team has to represent clients as successfully as possible.
