Introduction: I am a passionate violinist who enjoys teaching children and adults, from beginner level to advanced. Topics I like to focus on in lessons include: sound production, optimization of technique to maximize efficiency, and the application of that technique to turn musical ideas into the sound others can hear. I firmly believe that technique should always be in service of musical expression, not the other way around. With beginners, I also focus on ear training in particular, as improvement is nearly impossible without a sense of what to listen for. Every student is unique, and I try to tailor my lessons to individual needs.
I'm a classically trained violinist who has played since the age of 5. Over the years, I have participated in the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Program, the National Youth Orchestra of the USA, the Yale Symphony Orchestra (where I sat concertmaster), and the Tanglewood Music Center.
