Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: For the time I’m not using thumbtack to take on jobs. Thumbtack has gone from a few dollars a couple of years ago, now to around $18 just to respond to a work request that you guys submit. We pay that fee if you guys respond to our message. That can add up quick. I’ve found that most people using thumbtack are not looking to hire right away, or are just trying to get an idea of the price for a job. But we are paying to give you guys that info, regardless of whether you hire or not. When it only cost a few dollars to quote before, I’d paid a few times just to message people and send them in the correct direction. I remember one woman thought she needed a welder to fix her copper plumbing. I paid $5 to tell her she needed to search for a plumber :) but these $18 quotes that mostly lead nowhere are too much of a drain for me. You can search for my shop online using google or just about any other media. Hope to hear from you - Dan My name is Dan Canales. I provide machining and welding services, as well as automotive repair. I can weld any material. I use a CNC Bridgeport mill and a 16” south bend lathe. I do precision work. And I can guarantee your part or modification to within .001" if you need. I take pride in whatever I do- from the big to the small. Send me details of your idea, or whatever you need modified- pictures or sketches speed up the initial process. I enjoy brainstorming with someone and figuring out what needs to be done, or finding a better way to do it. I charge somewhere around $50-60per hour for work done here at the shop, depending on what you need done. Welding process's that use Argon (aluminum, or any TIG welding) are more expensive. For me to come out to you with equipment, I'll come up with a price based on distance and the job. But my price will be very competitive. - Dan Can Ever since I was a kid I was building things. I loved solving problems and taking apart my parents broken (or sometimes not) appliances, to see what was inside. I made this bow and arrow set when I was maybe 10. I climbed a huge tree in our backyard til I found the perfect branch for the bow. And I made different types of removeable arrowheads for the arrows. Bowmaking is not in my listed services anymore. But precision and passion for building something solid and reliable still are.

I called upon Dan to assist me with machining a part/housing for a prototype I am working on. I met with Dan to go over the details and came away very impressed with his knowledge, suggestions and attitude. He had the parts done to spec within a few days. If the prototype works I will definitely work with Dan again, and would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who needs a machinist.

Dan was a great guy to work with very reasonable,Took his time gave me options and guarantees his work. The job he did for me was very complex.I took it to at least five other machinist and they didn't want to be bothered because it was too hard of a job and very timely. so if you're looking for a machinist that likes a challenge go to Dan.

I contacted Dan because I'm in the process of restoring an old gyroplane, not having any experience in making small parts I asked a few machine shops that are local to my area and they quoted around $450 and probably a month to make it. So I began a search for machinists online, it didn't take me long to find Dan on this site. I have to say I was highly impressed with his professionalism, turnaround time, price and attention to detail. I will most definitely talk to him about any machining I need in the future. He had the job done within just a couple days, and his communication is excellent. I live in Arizona, from the project start to having the part in hand on my end took him less than a week that's shipping time included! It took me longer to find the time to write up this review than it took him to machine and mail the part, Thank you very much Dan, I'll be in touch when I have more projects!

Ive been looking for someone to do metal work for me for some time. I have googled and no one online offers small jobs. Then I remember a friend of mine recommended thumbtack to me so I searched for someone and found Dan. Dan contacted me and I gave him a brief description of what I had wanted done. I only had 1 picture and the picture was not the best, however, he did a great job with my paper tray rack. The job was to weld 3-4 paper trays on a sideways diagonal stance on a piece of metal with 1 above the other. He was very communicative with me. He showed me a picture before he would weld it and asked me to make any changes if needed. If I wanted to space the trays out a little more or if I wanted to add the 4th tray, and if I did it would be this certain height. If I didn't he can continue with the job. If he added the 4th tray, the cost would not increase. Honestly, Dan is a great person to work with. He even asked me why don't I just buy something to hold these trays up. I searched and couldn't find what I wanted. It was the fact that he did not push me to hire him even at the meet up to give him the trays. He gave me options tip the end. That shows the type of person Dan is. I hope to have future projects for him to do and he will be the first person I contact for any metal work, as you should, too. The best part was that he lived close enough to save me shipping it to him. NJ has cheaper gas than Philly so the drive made up for the shipping for me. The paper tray rack came out great, thanks again.
