Introduction: As a music teacher, I believe in helping my students enjoy music - not only as a student, but in their daily lives. I encourage practicing, sightreading, music theory and trying different styles of music. While my training is mostly in the classical field, I'm always glad to have a student express interest in other musical genres such as jazz, musical theatre, pop and gospel.
I believe that studying music is a process that takes discipline but also reaps huge results when progress has been made and goals have been attained. It's a challenge but it's also a lot of fun!
One of the most gratifying things about teaching music is to have a student learn a piece of music and make it their own. That means that they have it down technically, and now they can have fun with it and really make music. That's true enjoyment for me and the student. That's when the true love of music shines forth.
