Mr. Gopenko did my tuning well, I'll admit that right away. The piano hadn't been tuned in a while, and although he was nervous about getting it back up to A440 (the strings might have broken), he got it pretty close. However, I do not think I will call him again, for several reasons. First, he is a very heavy smoker, and my whole flat smelled awful after a bit; plus, he insisted on taking a cigarette break midway through! Also, although of course this is not his fault, his accent is quite thick and I had trouble understanding what he was saying most of the time. He kept saying I should get rid of my spinet and get an upright (I think), which I don't particularly want to do. When he first came, he barged right in without ringing the bell. And finally, he adds an extra tax if you want to pay with a check, which I've never seen a tuner do and seems a bit unreasonable; my tuning cost over $100, for instance, and I don't usually carry that much cash.

Michael has been our tuner for a number of years. He came highly recommended by a friend and professional musician who uses him as tuner for both his own instruments and the ones at the school at which he teaches, the prestigious Pingry School in Short Hills, NJ. We have been very pleased with Michael. He is reliable, and easy to contact. He always appears on time. He leaves the piano sounding perfectly, and tunes it quickly. He charges a very reasonable rate. Recently our piano needed repair, and he quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem and returned the piano, which is almost thirty years old, to perfect condition. And, he is a very pleasant, good man with an interesting background as a professional musician. I recommend him very highly.

Michael Gopenko is terrific. He is dependable, arrives on time, and he makes my finicky antique upright sound the best it ever has. I have used his services for several years. He is also an all-around nice guy. I recommend him highly.

Michael was simply brilliant! He was prompt and extremely attentive to detail. Everything was explained thoroughly. His knowledge and expertise were evident from the start to finish. Pricing was very good for a piano that hadn't been tuned for approximately 30 years or more. We plan to have him back for regular tunings and maintenance in the future.

We asked Michael to come back again because he did such a great job tuning and fixing our piano last time. Michael fixed the squeaky pedals on our piano in less than 5 minutes. Another piano technician told us it would take hours to do. After Michael finished fixing and tuning the piano it sounded fantastic! If you need someone to fix or tune your piano Michael is the best. We highly recommend him!
