Introduction: I am a Harvard graduate, literacy and writing specialist, and SAT & ACT tutor for ten years. Recently, one of my students made a 370 point increase in her SAT score, to a 1430, over three months of tutoring, another made an increase of 8 points in his ACT composite score, to a 30.25, and a third was accepted to the prestigious magnet schools Bergen County Academies and Bergen County Technical School. In 2009 I received my B.A. in English literature from Harvard University. I spent three years as a classroom teacher, most recently at a private school in Manhattan. Since then, I have worked at a public policy think tank located in Bergen County and continued to offer private tutoring. I also love to sing classical music with my chorus, the Schiller Institute New York Chorus. We performed at Carnegie Hall in June, 2019! My greatest enjoyment is to witness my students make a creative discovery, and break past their old limits.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I like to talk to the student and parent on the phone, then meet in person to discuss a plan of action. From there, I will lay out my method and make recommendations of necessary materials. Then, we will begin working together. Generally I like to do weekly 90 minute sessions for all SAT/ACT tutoring, although there are occasional cases where twice a week is the best idea. For academic tutoring, the same is generally true, although there is more variance depending on need.
