FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My competitive pricing scale is based on many years of expertise in sharing stories professionally with a variety of venues and audiences. $200/hour; $180/45 min.; $160/half-hour; $600/full day (4 hrs.+). Some discounting is available for non-profit organizations, libraries and community events. I will work hard to accommodate your needs and budget. An additional travel fee may be added to accommodate long distances, gas and tolls. Overnight stays are the responsibility of the venue coordinator.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication is essential! I ask questions to clarify your curiosity. Let me know what you're looking for so I can help you have a successful event. Communications can be made through phone conversations, emails, or by other electronic means. Once I am aware of your needs, audience, program intentions and the available venue, I will work with you to customize a storytelling program or workshop to meet those needs. I then travel to your venue, bringing appropriate realia to complement the chosen themed program. I make stories real! With over 400 tales in my repertoire, I'm very flexible with customizing a program for a variety of age groups. I perform at many venues and have added programs and workshops along the way.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As the oldest of five kids and with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood, I've spent my life working with children. I've also earned a Master's degree in Library Science because I love books, research and asking lots of questions. I subscribe to and read a variety of magazines in both the storytelling and natural science fields. I wish there were more hours in a day to digest it all. Reading, next to writing, is my second favorite hobby! I love nature, so I'm a long-time, volunteer docent naturalist at a local county park. Since 2013, I have facilitated two local writers groups. I'm an active member of two others. That's how I keep the storytelling art fluid and fresh.
