Introduction: I have been teaching violin and fiddle styles since 2014 and specialize in giving kids an in-depth exposure to many different styles of playing including: classical violin, bluegrass, Appalachian, and Irish fiddle, as well as diving into the world of improvisation. I also specialize in helping adults reach their goals of being able to play the tunes they love and building the confidence to join the local jam sessions they've always dreamed of participating in. I play professionally in several local bands and I am also a singer, harmony singer, and old-time banjo player and am happy to teach voice and banjo.

Rae is an excellent teacher since she is patient, and she can teach with different types of music so a beginner does not get stuck playing tedious nursery rhymes- She also has been kind enough to lower some songs I wanted to play so much but couldnt because I am too much of a beginner to play some of the really high notes.People notice my skill is improving quickly but since I have been just playing things I want to play I did not really notice. Also I prefer doing the more difficult work in the beginning of the lesson and something easier after that so I can end on a high note, She was responsive to this suggestion and this way I am less likely to become discouraged. She is also very punctual and the lessons have excellent value but we were only allowed to choose 3 discriptors

I would have checked all five items above. I think Rachael is a great teacher. I always look forward to our lessons. I am a beginner, older violin player (59) and she really likes teaching which is important, as it can be a challenge to teach older people, i.e. brain confusion and not as much hand flexibility, as well as not alot of time to practice. I find her to be very patient, supportive, and encouraging. When I run into a obstacle with my playing she always has a exercise to help me overcome it. Rachael is very passionate about her music and knows how to play many different styles, so she is able to support her students in what ever direction they want to take their music. The violin can be a difficult instrument to learn, but with Rachael's support I know I will stick with it. Kirsten

Hour lessons are $40 45 min lessons are $32 Half hour lessons are $25 8.675% sales tax added for services in New Mexico
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We'll start with asking you what you'd most like to learn, see what level of difficulty is best to start with, and I can help you buy or rent an instrument if you need one.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained with David Bragger of the Old-Time Tiki Parlour (fiddle and banjo) and attend Irish fiddle and other master classes as often as possible. I studied classical violin and viola with a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra for 3 years. I also took Orff Level 1 at UNM and the Suzuki violin course, "Every Child Can". I have BA from Naropa University
