About
Are you a saxophonist? Whether your goal is to pick up a fun new hobby, be first chair in your high school band program, or prepare to be a college music major, I can help you reach it! I work to help my students reach their goals, but also try to make sure learning the saxophone is a fun, rewarding experience. We'll have a trial lesson to be sure we're a good fit, and then create a plan together with your goals in mind. :)
Are you interested in learning music theory? I have worked as a theory instructor at the collegiate level, both as a TA at Arizona State University and as a full time instructor at Mesa Community College. I can teach both college prep and fundamentals as well as more advanced topics for interested students. Reach out and we can see how theory tutoring can help you reach your goals!

I took lessons with Jessica my first year of college and she helped me improve in many ways. She easily finds what needs the most work and provides helpful exercises to work on. She really pushed me to my best and showed me how to be a better player. The biggest thing I got from Jessica was motivation, I walked away from every lesson just wanting to go back to the practice room to get better.

Working with Jess was one of the most pleasant lesson experiences I’ve had. She is kind, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. She focuses on making her students better musicians as a whole which is extremely beneficial. Her teaching builds upon what you already know and she never makes you feel bad for not already knowing something.

I learned so much from my time working with Jess. Her teaching style is incredibly personalized and she really tries to understand the issue from the student's perspective. Her lessons are filled with creative exercises, guided instruction through pieces, personal stories, and new ways of approaching saxophone technique and expression. Her experience in such a wide array of musical genres and performances gives her incredible flexibility for her students. I would easily recommend her for both beginners on the saxophone and upcoming professional players.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge monthly - this reflects the time I put into lessons outside our scheduled lesson time and takes the guess work out of calculating how many lessons you need to pay for each month. My costs are based on 4 lessons a month, though there will be months with 5 lessons and an occasional month with 3.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Reach out! We’ll have a great first few lessons for me to get to know where you’re at and to help you set goals for the future. :)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor’s from University of North Texas, master’s from University of Oregon, and am in progress for a doctorate from Arizona State University. All of these degrees are in saxophone performance.
