Knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Our first meeting left me feeling I made the right choice.Jun 21, 2020Verified
Barbara St. Clair asked me to call her to explain my project which worked well to pin down some of the specific concerns I had. She was able to describe the different types of finishes that they offered and together we decided on the best one for my kitchen table and chairs. I think I was particularly lucky because they were able to pick up my furniture within hours of that phone call! That may not frequently happen, but it did in my case. Mr. St. Clair brought a trailer to our house, and carefully padded the furniture so no damage occurred in transit. Three weeks later they delivered the finished project. It is beautiful, the 1" gash in the table was professionally repaired and it is not at all noticeable. They recommended a product to use on the table to keep it looking great, and I'm sure we are going to enjoy the table and chairs for many years to come! We are very happy with their services. I highly recommend St. Clair Furniture Refinishers.Mar 8, 2018Verified
Replaced veneer on a 130 year old oak table. Did some other repairs as well. Also replaced veneer on the table leaves. Table top and leaves look new. Took great care when transporting the table to and from my house. Responded immediately to inquires about the status of the project. Show a real love for restoration of antique furniture. Take their time and do the job right. Highly recommend.Sep 17, 2017Verified
Barbara and James St. Clair have worked on several pieces for us. We have refinished furniture ourselves and know the process - they clearly know what they are doing. They took the first piece, an antique secretary given to me as an antique almost 50 years ago and now in multiple pieces (partly due to design, partly due to dried glue, age and multiple moves) and figured out the puzzle. It is back to me looking better than it did when I first received it, beautifully put back together and refinished. We are so happy to have found them - they are knowledgable, enthusiastic about their work, reasonably priced and reliable. Who could ask for anything more?Jan 20, 2017Verified
St. Clair was punctual, efficient, and completed the job within a few hours. They assessed multiple pieces, and provided excellent service estimating cost of replacement or cost of repair. The price was more than reasonable. We are completely satisfied with the service they provided, and would highly recommend St. Clair.Mar 28, 2018VerifiedSt. Clair Furniture Refinishers and Upholstery's reply
April, Thank you for the nice review. It was nice to meet you.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Prices are often determine by the piece. Due to type of finish and if there are any repairs. For interior painting we charge per sqft. Trim and window, and door jams are priced per ft.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?A lot of conversation to determine what the customer wants and needs done. Answering questions till the customer is satisfied and comfortable with what will take place with their piece.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I do look to add services , such repair and the duplicating of various furniture parts. Sailboat restoration. Rare and unique items. We have added Venetian plaster finish for walls, and antique restoration. We recently refinished a 100year-old long leaf pine flooring. And also had the privilege of working on the restoration of the Hawkeye Bar and Grill restoration at the Otesaga hotel and resort in Cooperstown, N.Y.
